Answer:

0. How the 3D photo is advanced than the 2D photo? Back

In considering the photography is the tool for redisplay the reality, the 3D photo is a step forward from the 2D photo, as the color photo in comparison with the black&white photo. The color photo reflect the world more truly and brink us more information than the black&white photo since it has the different color. Similarly, the 3D photo represent the world better than the 2D photo because of  the full display of 3 dimensions of the scene, that can help us perceive the depth of  the objects. Furthermore, when we turn slightly our angle view to the photo, we can feel the relative position of the objects change, like a viewer moving around the true scene. In brief, the 3D photo is a better tool for the artist to describe the reality.

1. 3D photo? I've seen the Chinese products everywhere ... Back

You confuse here the flip photo and the 3D photo. On the Chinese product (ruler, toy, ...), you can see only an animation of 2-3 different images while you change your viewing angle. No 3D depth here because no perspective connection between these images. The flip photo is considered the beginning of 3D photo, like the abacus is the beginning of the computer.

2. Why I see the 3D depth in the photo? Back

The nature of the integrated photo is that the left eye and right eye of the viewer receive the slightly different perspective images of the scene which the brain perceive as depth. The main difference is: 3D photo give you a binocular vision of a sequence of view points, while the 2D photo is an illustration of only one view point (position of camera). You can read more in the article "The world of binocular vision".

3. Are the glasses required while seeing the 3D photo? Back

You don't need to use the glasses or any training skill but you can easily perceive the 3D effect of the photo. Different from the auto-stereogram photo, that shows an hidden blur sharp under the repeated-pattern background, our 3D photo is the true image, display the reality as well as you perceive it directly by your senses.

4. I feel a little dizzy while seeing the 3D photo... Back

It's your strong impression for the first time you see something out of your imagination. You have to surf in your memory to find something similar but it's impossible. So you have to take a little time to make your eyes familiarize with it. More you enjoy the 3D photo, more you discover its interesting secret. Otherwise, the dizzy sensation is because of your observing position is not good. There are 2-3 observing positions where you see the blur image due to the jump effect of the frames. The better position to enjoy the photo is the straight angle, at least 1m distance and with adequate light.

5. The 3D effect can be showed in the computer screen? Back

The 3D effect can not showed on the screen but displays well on the printed image. On the website, you can see only  the rotate effect of a sequence of 2D photos.

6. Is there the 3D photo technology in Vietnam? Back

In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, there are only the layered pseudo-3D which are imported from Taiwan. That is a more simple technology than the integrated photo. However, it attracts the attention of some people.

7. Is there the 3D photo technology in the world? Back

We can see now eat achievement in the 3D cinema or 3D graphic. However, the 3D photo is still an undiscovered land. Most country has only the layered pseudo-3D photo. In a few country like Japan or France, there are the true 3D photo. We have been in Japan to discover and compare in order to brink you a full information of this technology in the world:

Japanese integrated photo technology

Vietnamese integrated photo technology

Accuracy in process, or image resolution The same The same
Maximum size 30 cm x 20 cm 90cm x 60cm
Diversity of theme Still object shooting, no people shooting Landscape shooting, still object shooting, and specially we have a studio for people shooting. It's unique place in the world where you can have a 3D photo of yourself or your family
Color, disposition, aesthetic Simple because of still object shooting only True color, and true disposition like the reality, praises from the photographers

8. What's the difference between the layered pseudo-3D photo and the integrated 3D photo? Back

The layered pseudo-3D is consider a differential photo. They split a 2D photo to some part (background, people, patterns,...) and put the deep distance between them. While viewing carefully, we see the overlay of some flat patches and they make a separated depth of a limited layers (2-5 layers). The integrated photo is also called composite photo, that give you multi viewing angles around the scene, so you can perceive a continuous cubic 3D.

9. What's the difference between the holography  and the integrated 3D photoBack

The holography image appeared in Vietnam several years ago, and a lot of people confuse with the integrated photo. They are both the 3D photo, but the nature is different:

  Holography Integrated photo
Nature Recorded by interference of laser Integral encryption of the digital image
Color Monochromatic (color of laser) of rainbow True color like digital photo
Resolution Low due to the speckling High resolution as digital photo
Size Very little (size of postcard, key-chains...) Up to 90cm x 60cm
Shooting subject Famous people, rock star, ... You or your family

10. I have already my favorite photo. Could I convert  it into 3D? Back

It's possible. But only in the form of mixed photo (between true 3D and layered 3D). Solution: cut and paste the people body from an existing photo as a flat layer in our available  3D backgrounds). So in this kind of photo, your body is not 3D but the landscape around is true 3D.

11. For 3D shooting, is a special machine required? Back

For 3D shooting, a special and sophisticated shooting system is required. Equipped only in our studio, this system take the camera move around you and shoot you in 20-30 consecutive viewing angles

12. How long does it take while shooting a 3D photo?  Back

It takes only 5 second from the beginning at the end of the shooting process. Our professional staff can give you a maximum 2 times-longer waiting time  to take the photos,  in compare with the conventional photos in the digital photo shops.

13. What's the relation between the 3D graphic and 3D photo? Back

The 3D photo and 3D graphic are basically different. The 3D graphic show the perspective change on the screen by changing the viewing angle with the computer command. 3D graphic is built by the 3D software (3DSMax, Maya, ...), and that's a trend of the young people (in Vietnam, there is a community of 3D graphic) . However, the 3D graphic doesn't show anything when print in the paper, it's only a flat image. In other words, the 3D graphic makes the 3D data, but no 3D display. So 3D graphic and 3D photo are the complement of the others. The 3D graphic model  built in the computer can show its 3D effect in the print paper by the integrated 3D technology. This combination can solve the limitations and open the trend for the 3D imaging in general and for 3D graphic in particular.

14. Is it expensive to make a 3D photo?  Back

Because of the raw material must be imported and of the accurate and sophisticated process, that's why the price of 3D photo is quite high than the conventional 2D photo. However,  in compare with the same kind and same size Japanese product, our product has only a haft price. The price changes following the size or theme (people or landscape,  first print or second print).

15. Is it durable the 3D photo?  Back

Due to the advanced print technology by the durable pigment ink, the lifetime of a 3D photo is 10 time longer than the conventional 2D color photo, at least 70-80 years like the black&white photo. Furthermore, it can be protected from scratch, dust due to the microlens laminated on the surface. So you can believe that a 3D photo of your marriage or your children could be with you all your life.

16. Can we see now the beginning of a golden era of the 3D photo? Back

We believe it. The integrated 3D photo can open a new way for the photography that is saturated of ideas. The 3D photo is a revolution like the jump from the black&white photo to color photo, from the film photo to digital photo. Beside the high development  of  the other 3D branches such as 3D graphic, 3D virtual reality, 3D game, 3D cinema,  3D photo contributes a great trend of the science and technology in the 21th century. We are proud to say that the Vietnamese 3D photo technology is now on the world level. It shows the creative ability of  the technician in Vietnamese Academy of  Science and Technology (VAST). The support and participation to the 3D photo technology from any body  is an  encouragement to the Vietnamese intellect in the way to catch the world technology level.
